Acholi edge past Bukedi on penalties to clinch 2019 FUFA Drum championship

Acholi province became the second team ever to win the FUFA Drum championship after edging Bukedi 5-3 on penalties at the John Akii bua stadium in Lira.

Both sides settled for a goalless draw at full time and kicks from the penalty mark were left to decide the eventual winners.

Bukedi’s Aaron Okoth was the only unfortunate player who failed to convert his kick courtesy of goalkeeper Derrick Ochan’s heroics.

Acholi’s skipper Denis Okot scored the decisive penalty after Tito Okello, Alferd Onek, Richardson Asaba, Moses Okot had all flawlessly converted theirs.

Disan Galiwango, Frank Kalanda and David Owori scored for Bukedi who were coached by Abbey Bogere Kikomeko.

Acholi province won a trophy, gold medals and a cash prize worth thirty two million shillings (32,000,000/=). Bukedi were awarded with bronze medals and fifteen million shillings (15,000,000/=)

Derrick Emukule of Bukedi was named the best goalkeeper while Tito Okello emerged the top scorer with eight goals.

Lango province’s striker Bronson Nsubuga who also plays for Maroons FC, was named the the Most Valuablde Player (MVP).
