Tusker and Thika United played out to a barren stalemate at Ruaraka Stadium.
Ugandan duo of
Achema and Hashim Sempala started for Tusker with Odongo Tayo Mathew named on the bench. Former URA and Ugandan goalkeeper Allan Owinyi was named in Thika’s starting eleven.
The home side looked threatening in the opening stages. Hashim Sempala had a chance to give the hosts an early lead but his effort was tipped over by Thika goalkeeper Allan Owinyi.
The hosts looked the better side throughout the entire first 45 minutes though players Robert Achema and Timothy Otieno all guilty for missing several chances. The first half ended goalless.
In the resumption, Tusker tactician Sam Timbe reacted by introducing on Boniface Muchiri and another Ugandan Odongo Tayo Mathew in places of Robert Achema and Jackson Macharia.
The breweries continued their dominance into terms of possession but couldn’t find away through a resilient Thika United. By the end of proceedings game ended goalless.
Tusker head coach Sam Timbe blamed his strikers for not converting the few chances they created. He says,
“We created a few chances but we couldn’t convert them into goals. When my striker step up their game, we will be heading in the right direction.” Said Timbe
Tusker are now 12th on the Kenyan Premier League log with 6 points in 6 games while Thika United is 15th on the table of 18 with 4 points accumulated in 6 games.
