2022 Masaza Cup Groups: Buddu draw Ssingo in Group of death

The group stage draw for the 2022 Masaza Cup tournament has been held today at Bulange Mengo.

The previous two editions have held at the Njeru Technical centre due to the horrendous Covid-19 turmoil but this year all the teams will host games at their respective home grounds.

Fans will also return to the competition that has been played for the last two years without fans.

Unlike the previous editions which comprised of four groups, this time teams have been drawn in three groups of six teams each.

The top two teams in each group will progress to the quarterfinals and will be joined by the best two third placed teams in the three Groups.

Buddu are the reigning champions following their 3-1 triumph over Buwekula in the final of the previous edition.

They have been drawn against two time winners Ssingo, Kyadondo, Bululi, Buvuma and Mawogola in Group B.

Group A has last year’s runners up Buwekula, Mawokota, Butambala, record winners Gomba, Kooki and Kabula.

Bulemeezi, Kyaggwe, Busiro, Ssese, Bugerere and Busujju are in Group C.

The opening fixture is scheduled for 25th June at Masaka Recreation grounds the home of the reigning champions Buddu. The Masaza Cup competition committe is expected to reveal the fixtures as soon as possible.
