“We also expect to unveil a sponsor for the league since we plan to have prize money for the winners this season.” Said Kakande
Unlike the previous campaigns which comprised of 14 teams this season will only have 12 teams. This is because two teams Airforce and KBK failed to meet the licensing requirements.
The 12 teams that will take part are reigning Champions NIC, KCCA, PRISONS, POSTA, WEYONJE, UCU, LUWEERO UGX, UPDF, POLICE, MUTELX LIFE SPORT, BUSIA GREATER LIONS & AFRICAN RENEWAL UNIVERSITY.
Both clubs did not have players ahead of the new season.
Only licensed coaches of level three will be allowed to manage this term and all the players who will participate must have licenses. Umpires who will oversee games will also be of level three.
This year’s edition will have entrance costs, the fans will be paying 5000/- to watch the full day’s games, and that gate collection 80% will go to home teams and the 20% to the federation, though with Busia’s case, the Busia Greater Lions team will be getting 30% since it’s the only club in league with a home ground. Then the 70% will go to the home teams.
Games will be played at Kamwokya, Busia, Bombo and Old Kampala.
The 2022/23 season games, some of them will be on floodlights while others will be live on Salt TV.
