2021 Masaza Cup quarterfinals: Bulemeezi land Busiro in 2019 final rematch

A repeat of the the 2019 Masaza cup finals has been confirmed after Bulemeezi emerged winners of the Buttikiro group.

Bulemeezi progressed to the quarterfinals of the 2021 Masaza Cup after coming from a goal down to beat Ssese 2-1 in their final Butikkiro group game on Friday at the Njeru Technical centre.

Goals from Oscar Sulaiman Ssesaazi and John Ben Nakibinge inspired the 2012 and 2019 champions to maximum points.

The victory saw Bulemeezi finish top of the group with nime points and will now face Busiro in the quarterfinals.

The meeting between Bulemeezi and Busiro on Tuesday next week will be a re-match of the 2019 final.

Meanwhile, Mawokota cruised to the last eight of the competition after staging a spirited show in the 3-3 draw with Kooki.

Ivan Ssemwanga, John Kiseka and Sande Mande netted for Kooki whose campaign ended at the group stage.

Mawokota superbly replied through a brace from Tony Kiberu and second half substitute Joel Opio.

Mawokota finished second in Butikkiro group with four points and will take on Kyaggwe in the quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Mawokota have previously won the tournament three times winners (2005, 2007 and 2013).
