2020 MASAZA CUP FINAL: Gomba seek revenge against Buddu

Gomba have a chance to exact revenge on Buddu after suffering at the hands of the Masaka based county in the 2016 Masaza Cup final, when they collapsed to a 6-5 penalty defeat.

The two sides will meet once again in the prestigious Masaza Cup final on Saturday at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will grace the climax of the 2020 Masaza Cup final at Kitende.

This time the final will be played behind closed doors with only 200 people allowed due to COVID-19 pandemic. This means their will be no boisterous supporters in the epic final.

Gomba are the team with this competition firmly in their DNA and will be seeking for a fifth triumph while Buddu are looking their second trophy.

The two sides were in the same group Muganzirwazza and when they faced, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the other group games, Gomba beat Kabula 4-0, overpowered Ssese 4-3 whereas Buddu cruised past Kabula 2-0 and also registered a 3-0 win over Ssese.

During the quarterfinals, Gomba came from a goal down to beat a tricky Bugerere side 2-1 while Buddu comfortably beat three time champions Mawokota 2-0.

At the semifinal stage, Gomba edged out Busiro 5-4 in the penalty shoot after a goalless draw in normal time. Buddu on the other hand beat 2019 Champion Bulemeezi 1-0.

Gomba are under the stewardship of Ibrahim Kirya with Davis Nnono Ssozi as his assistant.

Michael Skills Lukyamuzi is the head coach at Buddu with Twaha Miiro as the assistant.

Gomba will look up current tournament top scorer Charles Bbaale with seven goals, Ali Bayo, Jackson Ssemugabi for coronation.

Custodian Farouk Yawe Ssebanja, Titus Ssematimba and Frank Sebuufu are expected to lift Buddu to their second trophy
