2019 Netball World Cup : Uganda drawn against hosts England

The draws of the 15th edition of the Netball World Cup were held in Nottingham, UK last evening.

The She Cranes of Uganda were drawn against the 2018 Commonwealth games champions and hosts England in the preliminary group phase.

In Group D, Uganda and England were pitted against Scotland and the Island nation of Samoa.

England and Scotland will not be new opponents to Uganda having faced off in the 2018 Commonwealth games in April this year in Gold coast, Australia.

England beat Uganda 55-49 whereas Scotland lost to Uganda by 57-37 in a competition where Uganda emerged 6th and Scotland finished distant 9th.

The 2019 Netball World Cup is slated for 12th July – 29th July next year at the Echo Arena in Liverpool with 16 teams taking part.

The 16 have been divided into 4 groups of 4 each and the top three teams in each group advance to a second group stage.

Drajole Peace Proscovia will lead Uganda in Liverpool

The top two teams in the two groups of six in that second phase will then face off in the semi-finals.

Australia are the defending champions after winning the previous edition in 2015 while New Zealand emerged silver medal winners.

Group B; New Zealand, Malawi, Barbados, Singapore

Group C; Jamaica, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Fiji

Group D; England, Uganda, Scotland Samoa
