The 2019 edition of UMEA Solidarity Games have officially been launched at Kibuli Secondary school today Monday 18th March 2019.
This year’s games will be hosted by Kasawo Islamic SS in Mukono with the opening ceremony slated for Good Friday, 19th April and the finals will be held on Easter Monday, 21st April.
At the launch, organizing committee chairman Twahil Kiteezala called upon all the participating schools to fight the use of machineries in these games. He also called upon for support from the sponsors which will endeavor them to stage a tremendous event.
“We are delighted to officially launch this year’s UMEA Solidarity games and we call upon all the schools that are to participate not to use machineries to give a chance to students to showcase their talents. This will help the country benefit from the new talents.
Our main challenge is that we luck sponsors who will give us a hand in organizing a great sports event. I would like to thank those sponsors and partners that we have worked with since the UMEA games inception in 1998.” He stated.
Hajji Kashimu Kajaya the director of Kasawo Islamic SS the hosting school thanked the organisers for giving us the opportunity to host these games.
“I thank the organising committee for giving us a chance to host these games. I would like to confirm to you that the preparations are going on and I promise we shall have a tremendous sports event.”

The participants will compete in the following sports disciplines Netball ( Girls), Football ( boys and Girls), handball( boys and Girls), Volleyball ( boys and girls) as well as racket games ( Badminton and Tennis) for both girls and boys.
Last year, Kibuli Secondary school emerged as the overall winners in the event that was successfully hosted by Mbale based Nkoma S.S.
A number of schools have confirmed participation and these include Kibuli S.S, Gombe SS, Kawempe Muslim, Mbogo High, Mbogo Mixed, Kakungulu Memorial, Amity, Wagga High, Bulo Parents, Nkoma SS and hosts Kasawo Islamic SS.
