The first intake of the Paris St. Germain academy will commence operations in September in conjunction with the Federation of Rwanda’s football associations.

The program was instituted as one of the agreements between the French club and the government of Rwanda in a 3 year deal signed in 2019.

The football program was supposed to kick off last year but it was delayed by the upsurge in the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the partnership, PSG will be required to promote Rwanda’s products and the country’s tourism sector while the club will ensure development of the young football talents.

Academy team coaches will make recommendations from 30 schools in Huye District from which the boys and girls will be selected.

The children will have an opportunity to train in a top tier stadium under the supervision of coaches trained on the methodology of the French club.
