10 man UPDF stun Express in Bombo

Reigning Uganda Premier league champions Express FC suffered a second straight defeat as they were shocked 1-0 by 10 man UPDF FC on Saturday at the Bombo Military playgrounds.

Musa Mudde scored the all important goal of the contest from the spot early in second half.

The two sides did not produce enough scoring opportunities in the first period of the game.

In the 28th minute of the game, UPDF forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe elbowed goalie Joel Mutakubwa and was sent off by referee Shamira Nabadda.

The two sides went into half time breather goalless.

UPDF were awarded a penalty in the 56th minute following Nicholas Kasozi’s handball inside the forbidden area. Mudde was entrusted with the responsibility and calmly fired Brian Ssenyondo’s charges into the lead.

Express FC were without head coach Wasswa Bbosa on the touchline following his suspension couldn’t find a way through a resilient and organized Army side.

The reigning champions remain winless after back to back defeats while UPDF FC are now on four points. In fact, Express FC have lost four games in a row across all competitions.

Express FC will next host BUL FC on Tuesday, 26th October at Muteesa II Stadium while UPDF will travel to Mbarara City.
