Burkina Faso 1-0 Tunisia
Burkina Faso became the second team to advance to the AFCON 2021 semi finals after beating Tunisia 1-0 in the quarter final played at the Stade Roumde Adjia in Garoua.
Youngster Dango Aboubacar Ouattara scored the lone goal of the game but got sent off in the closing stages of the game.
This was Burkina Faso’s third quarter final over Tunisia in this tournament with the first two coming in 1998 on penalty shoot outs and 2017 thanks to Aristade Bance and Prejuce Nakoulma.
The Burkinabe came into the game without their skipper Bertrand Traore due to injury and goalkeeper Hervé Koffi took up the armband responsibilities.
It was a dull affair that was settled by Dango Aboubacar Ouattara who capitalized on a counter attack to score for the Stallions in the added two minutes of first half.
He was sent off by referee Joshua Bondo for dangerous play in the 82nd minute following the a review by the Video Assistant Referee.
Despite the numerical advantage, Tunisia couldn’t find a leveller in the final minutes.
Burkina will face Senegal or Equatorial Guinea in the semi final on Wednesday.
