This was the fourth time that the two sides faced off with UCU managing two wins and the other ending in a draw in the previous three contests.

The first half was largely a dull affair with neither side able to create a scoring opportunity though UCU were dominant in terms of possession.

The game came to life a bit in the opening minutes of the second half with MUBS looking more likely to break the deadlock through Tumusiime Martin and Ssenkandwa Frank but both couldn’t beat Were Derrick in UCU goal.

By fulltime, both sides had to settle for a barren stalemate. The result means that all the four teams in this group have only registered a point this follows a similar result between IUEA and KIU on Saturday last week.

Charles Ayiekoh Lukula the MUBS tactician was delighted with a point and he is  optimistic that they will turn things around in the next games.

“I think this is a fair result for us being that it was our first game. UCU is a very good team with a lot of experience and maturity, they also have a good record against us. I believe we shall set ourselves well in the next games and make sure we progress past the group stage.”

The Pepsi University football league resumes tomorrow with a group B contest between St. Lawrence University and Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi.
