UCA postpones all Cricket activities and competitions

The Uganda Cricket Association has suspended all local Cricket activities and competitions with immediate effect till further notice.

This follows President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s banning of public gatherings on Wednesday 18th March for 32 days.

The statement from the Association dated 19th, March 2020 reads,

“Uganda Cricket Association hereby announces the postponement of all local
Cricket activities and competitions with immediate effect till further notice.”

“We recommend individual regular exercise to remain fit during this period not
only in preparation for the resumption of games but as well as to boost your
general immunity.” Reads a statement signed by Michael Nuwagaba,
Honorary Secretary.

The activities that are affected include the Elite league, Ladies Cricket Cranes training, Cricket Cranes training. The schools league, a new development program has also been adversely affected.

The Cricket Cranes have been preparing for the Inaugural Africa T20 tournament due in Nairobi from 20th to 27th March but has been called off due to further notice as well as the Africa T20 World Cup Qualifiers due to take place in South Africa from 24th April to 5th May also hangs in a balance.

The Lady Cranes had also kick started preparation for the International tournament in Qatar has also been called off due to the pandemic.
