TANZANIA: Wadada crowned best defender of the season, falls short of MVP gong

Uganda Cranes right back Nicholas Wadada has been named the best defender of the 2019/20 Tanzania Vodacom Premier League in the awards gala held on Friday evening at the Mlimani City Hall.

Wadada beat Kagera Sugar’s David Luhende and Coastal Union’s Bakari Mwamnyeto (Coastal Union) to win the award.

The former Vipers captain made eight assists and scored one goal (against Biashara United) as Azam FC finished 3rd behind champions Simba SC and rivals Yanga Africans.

Unfortunately, Wadada lost the Best player of the season award to Simba SC’s Zambian midfielder Clatous Chama.

Chama also won the Best midfielder award while his teammate Meddie Kagere was season’s top-scorer with 22 goals.

Simba’s Belgian tactician Sven Vandenbroeck was named the best coach while Aishi Manula (Simba) was named the best goalkeeper award.
