Supersport United booked a place in the MTN 8 final following a 1-0 second leg victory away to Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday evening at Soccer city Stadium.
Ugandan international left back Godfrey Walusimbi was a debutant for Kaizer Chiefs since his move from Kenyan giants Gor Mahia last month, he was also booked in the 67th minute before being substituted for Bernard Parker in the 88th minute. However, the day ended in misery for the Ugandan as the visitors stormed the finals.
Bradley Grobbler, who netted a brace in the 2-2 stalement in the first leg last Sunday scored the all important goal for Supersport in the 58th minute to inspired his side to a 3-2 aggregate win.
Khama Billiat, Dumisani Zuma and Siphlelele Ntshangase all were guilty for missing glorious opportunities to level matters for Giovanni Solina’s side.
The reigning MTN8 champions Supersport could face Cape Town City in a repeat of last year’s final. City will visit Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns today in Pretoria for the second leg contest, City lead 1-0 courtesy of a first leg win.
