Organisers of Real Stars Sports monthly awards have crowned the best performers of the month of January in both football and Boxing.
Tooro United duo of Wasswa Bbosa and Joel Mutakubwa was names as the best coach and player respectively.
Bbosa managed to guide Tooro United to three league wins out of three games and edged out defending champions KCCA FC in the Uganda Cup at the round of 32. He beat Peter Onen ( BUL FC) and Mbarara City FC’s Livingstone Mbabazi for the accolade accompanied by a cash prize.
His custodian, Joel Mutakubwa kept three clean sheets in all three league games he played in the month and also saved three penalties when Tooro United eliminated KCCA FC in the Uganda Cup round of 32 contest.
The goalkeeper came out top beating Hillary Mukundane ( Mbarara City) and Juma Balinya ( Police) who also had a decent month.
In Boxing, Yusuf Babu of COBAP Boxing club scooped the accolade following his explosive performances in the National Open Boxing Championships that saw him defeat Lukanga’s Emma Kyambadde in scintillating fashion to bag a gold medal during the heavyweight category.
It was his first time to fight in the category having spent three years in the middle weight category. He also won two fights by knockouts, he managed to overcome the challenge of Shadir Musa and Adinan Yasin who also put up superior performances in the same tournament.
Bbosa expressed his excitement at the development and commended the organisers for coming up with such an initiative that recognises hard work.
“I thank the organisers for coming up with such an initiative and I feel proud that they have recognized my hard work. I believe this will help me work hard to win more goals and help the club reach its target which is to finish in the top five.”
The fourth edition of the awards saw Top boy Promotions join Jude colour solutions and Khalifa suites in uplifting the awards. The promotion company also gave all the nominees 100,000 shillings each.
