FUFA announced on Wednesday 20th May, that Vipers SC who were declared as Uganda Premier league champions will represent the nation at next season’s CAF Champions League and KCCA FC will represent in the CAF Confederation Cup.
FUFA President Moses Magogo Magogo said the Fufa Executive Committee can determine which team represents the country on the continent.
He said naming KCCA as Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup was a decision made by the Executive Committee.
In a phone interview on NBS Lunch time sports program, Proline FC director Mujib Kasule stated that the Federation would have considered them first because they are the reigning champions of the Uganda Cup.
“Proline FC is the defending champions of the Uganda Cup and we are at quarter finals stage already. I think FUFA would have considered us before considering KCCA FC as Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup.”
I don’t know the criteria FUFA used to determine KCCA FC as the team to represent the country.”
On the way forward,
“Its unfortunate we got relegated while we still had a chance like many other teams and no team was consulted.”
“We used to FUFA’s decisions, we are a young growing club and we shall continue to play football, nurture young players and give them opportunity to play. I am optimistic we will comeback stronger and more competitive.” He stated.
Proline FC finished the campaign with 22 points in 25 games as they were relegated to next season’s Big league for a third time in seven seasons.
