Alishe had joined Mbarara City on a one and half year deal at the start of last season but opted not to renew his commitment with the Top bet sponsored outfit.

Sources reveal that the SC Villa hierarchy is working around the clock to finalise the signing of Alishe in a few days from now.

The imminent move to SC Villa will see Alishe re-join a team he previously featured for between 2009-2011.

Asuman Alishe (Standing 1st left) captained Mbarara city in their great escape from relegation last year up to this impressive second season

The experienced central defence kingpin has also in the past played for Vipers SC, BUL FC, SC Victoria University, the national team The Cranes among others.

The Armband Question at Mbarara City

The departure of Alishe leaves a question on who will be Mbarara City’s next skipper. However, close sources around the club reveal that Hillary Mukundane is in pole position to take up the club’s armband despite being third in the previous pecking order.

Mukundane who was captain against Onduparaka and Bright Stars is expected to compete with former KCCA player Paul Mucurezi and right back Zaid Byekwaso for the team’s captain role.

Byekwaso has been the immediate deputy of Alishe but has had playing time hard to come his way this season.

” Zaid (Byekwaso) would automatically be the club’s captain but he has been inconsistent. In fact, his last league start came against Nyamityobora at Wankulukuku so it’s understandable why Mukundane is likely to be the next team skipper. ”

A source revealed to Swift Sports.

Mbarara City have already signed budding defender Ronald Otti Ociti from Buganda regional league club Nangabo Green Valley to replace the departed Alishe.
