During the post match press conference after Uganda’s 1-0 triumph over Cape Verde, the Mamelodi Sundowns shot stopper hinted at a possibility of calling it a day on AFCON qualification campaigns.

” One target has been achieved and now we hope to fight and make it passed the group stages. I believe we still have time to build the team, We have young players and I am very happy that they have been impressive on the senior team during this campaign.”

“Probably this might be my last Africa Cup of Nations qualification game at home but I am still thinking about it, you never know I can change my mind. It was my wish to see the young players go to the Africa Cup of Nations.”

The team captain also praised his teammates for the togetherness despite the numerous challenges faced through out the campaign.

“I thank my teammates for the job well done, I didn’t get the five clean sheets alone mostly it was the goalkeeping department from Benjamin Ochan, Watenga, Lukwago and Salim Jamal. All have been fantastic and brilliant ever since we started the campaign.

“I thank the soldiers who were on the pitch, the supporters who push us and also the Federation plus the technical department. We have been working hard and focusing on the game and so we want to go to Cameroon with six clean sheets.”

Onyango remains as the only custodian yet to concede a goal in the ongoing qualification campaign. He has now spent 450 minutes without picking the ball in his own net.

Patrick Kaddu sole goal was enough to inspire Desabre’s charges to a second successive Africa Cup of Nations final tournament and 7th in total. The Cranes are top of group L with 13 points collected in 5games.
