Bombers captain Shadir Musa Bwogi was the only Ugandan to qualify for this year’s Olympic games which will be staged in Tokyo, Japan.
The Bombers skipper unanimously overcame Ghana’s Lartey Jessie during a third place Box off bout on Saturday in the Men’s Welterweight category in the Africa Olympic Qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal.
For starters, the last Boxer to represent Uganda in the Welterweight (69Kg) at the Olympic games was Sadat Tebazalwa in Athens, 2004.
It had taken 12 years for a Uganda Boxer to prevail to the Olympic games since Ronald Serugo made it at 2008 games in Beijing, China.
On the same day, Kenya’s Christine Ongere unanimously ended Uganda’s Catherine Nanziri’s Olympic dream during a Women Flyweight third place Box off.
