Ndugwa inspires Wakiso Giants to maiden victory against URA

Wakiso Giants registered their first win in the topflight league against Sam Ssimbwa’s URA FC at Wakissha grounds in Wakiso.

Substitute Karim Ndugwa scored a late brace for the Purple Sharks to ensure revenge on URA a side that beat them in the Pilsner Super 8.

Ndugwa came off the bench 10 minutes into the second period replacing Geoffrey Serunkuma when the encounter was tied at 1-1.

Tom Masiko put the home side in the lead with a thunderbolt strike in the first minute of the game.

Saidi Kyeyune levelled the scoreline seven minutes later with a header from a Mikidad Senyonga free kick.

Ndugwa put Kefa Kisala’s charges in the lead in the 74th minute finishing off a ball from Viane Sekajugo.

Six minutes later, the lanky striker capitalized on a howler by Benjamin Njakojo to complete his brace and ultimately putting the game to bed.

Wakiso Giants will play against Tooro United in their next game at the same venue on Friday while URA will host another newly promoted side Kyetume on the same day.
