MOTOR SPORT : Late Charles Muhangi to be honored at Mbarara Rally

The 2019 Lato Milk Mbarara Motor Rally has officially been launched today at Lato Milk head offices, Kololo. This year’s championship will be in honour of the late Charles Muhangi who was the founder member of the Mbarara Moto club.

Dusman Okee FMU President has called upon the Rally fans to keep note of safety to avoid unnecessary accidents and also assured the widow to the late Patience that they always walk with her.

“I want to assure Patience Muhangi that we shall never let her walk alone, we shall always be with her. I take this opportunity to thank out sponsors Lato Milk for continuing with the amazing spirit year and year out.

I call upon the Rally fans to fellow the guidelines and be careful so that we avoid accidents.”

Patience Muhangi the widow to the late African Rally champion Charles Muhangi thanked the organisers for the gesture.

“I am extremely overwhelmed with this gesture shown in honouring my late husband. He was the patron of this Rally and as a family we shall always be supportive whenever need arises. I will be glad to welcome everybody at our home when the Rally takes center stage.”

The Rally will start with Car check in on Friday 8th February at Shell Biharwe. On Saturday 9th, the first section which will be 13. 18km and will start from Rwentuha and end at Bumbweirwe.

The second section will start from Ishaka and also end at Bumbweirwe where the late Charles Muhangi was buried. The Rally Drivers will pay tribute to the fallen fellow Rally driver. They will close the day with a playground section at Bushenyi.

On Sunday 10th February, the first section of 31.62km will start from Rwentanga and end at Buzibwera. Then they will drive for two more sections, starting from Buzibwera to Lutoma, then Kagyezi to Buzibwera then service all these are for 28.89km.

After, they will drive for 15.02km from Ruhindi to Lutoma before ending the day driving for 23.7km, starting from Bukiro to Buzibwera.
