Miya thrilled by move to Turkish side Konyaspor

Uganda Cranes star Farouk Miya was officially unveiled at Turkish side Konyaspor Kulubu after signing a three year deal.

Miya, who was turning up for HNK Gorica in Croatia for the last one season, looks torwards making a mark at his new side.

The former Vipers offensive midfielder who can ably play at behind the striker, in the midfield and on the flanks has been a mainstay on the Uganda national team The Cranes since making his debut five years ago.

Miya is capped 59 times and has scored 19 goals including the one against Comoros that sent Uganda to the AFCON after 39 years.

Miya scored Uganda’s lone goal in the 2017 AFCON

Konyaspor Kulubu will be Miya’s fifth club since leaving Uganda in 2016. Others being Standard Liege and Royal Mouscron in Belgium, FK Sebail in Azerbaijan and most recently HNK Gorica.

While at Gorica, the 2015 Fufa Player of the year played 1989 minutes, 33 games, scored six goals, received six yellows and one red card.

His new home Konyaspor competes in the Turkish Super Lig and finished 8th on the 18-team log last season.

They host their league games at the Konya Buyuksehir stadium but will make a trip to Galatasaray on Sunday.
