KCCA keep their title hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Bright Stars

KCCA FC cruised 2-1 past Bright Stars at Champions Stadium in Mwererwe. Thanks to goals from Derrick Nsibambi and a late Paul Mucurezi free kick. Kokas Opejo scored for the home side.

Derrick Nsibambi gave the visitors the lead in 36th minute with a cool header off a Muhammad Shaban cross. At halftime both sides were separated by a Derrick Nsibambi goal.

Enter the second period, Bright Stars tactician introduced made early changes with Joshua Kawaddwa coming on for Jimmy Kakooza and Kokas Opejo for Andrew Kaggwa.

Shaban Muhammad had a great chance to extend KCCA’s lead in the 67th minute with only the goalkeeper to beat but unfortunately looped over the bar.

In the 75th minute, Kokas Opejo swiftly went past KCCA defenders to level the scores with a brilliant finish.

With 5 minutes to normal time, Paul Mucurezi restored KCCA’s lead with a superb free kick after being fouled by Enock Walusimbi.

KCCA brought on Solomon Okwalinga for Jackson Nunda and Patrick Kaddu for Saddam Juma. Bright Stars also introduced on Moses Okot for Akram Kakembo as the last substitution.

By the end of proceedings, goals from Derrick Nsibambi and Paul Mucurezi were enough to inspire the Lugogo outfit to a massive victory.

The win sees KCCA consolidate their second place with 57 points garnered in 28 games and they are now two points below leaders Vipers SC. Bright Stars on the other hand stays 6th placed with 38 points accumulated in 29 games

KCCA will next host BUL FC at Startimes stadium in Lugogo before ending their campaign at Police, whereas Bright Stars will end their season away to Onduparaka in Arua.
