The long waited NBL season under the new FUBA presidency Nasser Sserunjoji kick-started on Friday 12th at Lugogo MTN Arena.

Defending champions Kcca Leopards in the Women’s category did not have the kind of an opener they would wish when JKL Lady Dolphins’ Jamila Nansinkombi unleashed her beast mode.

Lady Dolphins went on to defeat Kcca Leopards 70-49 with Jamila Nansinkombi scoring a 20 point mark on the evening as well as running away with player of the game.

In the final fixture on the evening, defending champions City Oilers claimed a 69-66 victory over Betway Power in the men’s opener.

Oilers who came from 10 points down at half time proved they are still the team to beat if anyone has any intentions for the league when Ivan Muhwezi showed value for Oilers as he played key figure in the come back that later gave Oliers a 3 point victory despite not having their head Coach Mandy Juruni on touchline.

Muhwezi who scooped player of the game managed to score 16 points on the evening, one behind Power’s Syrus Kiviri who had a great debut scoring 17 points the highest on the evening though they could not earn his side victory.
