Referee Ronald Kirangwa and his assistants who were in charge of the Express vs Vipers game at Wankulukuku, have been banned by the federation with immediate effect following their dubious officiation.
Kirangwa was the man in the center assisted by Lydia Nantabo Wanyama and Sam Kakembo as his first and second assistants respectively.
The trio continuously exhibited poor refereeing decisions throughout the entire 90 minutes most notably allowing Vipers’ equalizer to stand despite the scorer Tito Okello being in an obvious offside position.
The federation confirmed the development through it’s official website.
” This is to notify all stakeholders that, upon the advice of the Referees Disciplinary Panel and the FUFA Referees Standing Committee, FUFA has banned three officials of match number 54 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League played on Wednesday 7th November 2018 at Muteesa II Stadium – Wankulukuku.”
Said part of the document.
Sam Kakembo has been banned from performing refereeing services for a period of 5 years while Kirangwa has received a ban of 3 years.
The 1st assistant referee Lydia Nantabo Wanyama receives a punishment of a 2-month ban (60 days).
The 3 match officials (Centre Referee, 1st Assistant and 2nd Assistant) have been forwarded to FUFA Committee for Match Integrity for further investigation and decision.
