Former Vipers striker Julius Malingumu joins Heegan FC

When one door closes, another opens, likewise for former Vipers striker Julius Malingumu who has joined Heegan FC in the Somali Premier league few months after being let go by UPDF FC in the mid season reshuffle.

Malingumu has put pen to paper on a one-year contract following lengthy negotiations between his representative and the Somali outfit.

His immediate task is to guide his new side in the surge for the league title. Heegan lies 3rd on the 10-team log after playing 8 games collecting 13 points, 5 behind table leaders Dekeedah FC.

Heegan FC, which was formerly known as Somali football club is found in the capital of Mogadishu. They have two league triumphs with the most recent being in the 2014-15 season.

Malingumu has previously turned out for KJT Rwenshama (2014), Vipers SC (2015), The Saints (2015-16), BUL FC (2016) before moving to the armyside UPDF FC (formerly known as The Saints) in the second round of the 2016-17 Uganda premier league season.

The Somali Premier league is also a home to Ugandan coach Hussein Mbalangu who manages Banadir FC. His side, Banadir is currently 4th with 11 points harvested from 7 games.
