FBL : Proline maintain grip on top as Wakiso Giants and Kiboga are held

The first round of the StarTimes FUFA Big League season came to an end with 8 matches played on Thursday evening.

Proline rallied from one goal down to edge Vialli Bainomugisha’s Kabale Sharp 3-1 at Lugogo.

Edson Ahebwa had given Kabale Sharp a halftime lead but Ivan Bogere, James Begesa and Bright Anukani scored for the former premier league side.

Proline now leads the Rwenzori group table with 23 points, 2 clear of second placed Kiboga Young who were held by Kira United at Namboole.

Former Maroons striker Abdallah Senyonga gave Kira United a first half lead but Nvule Jamir levelled for the Kiboga outfit with a direct corner kick goal, his third of the campaign.

In Jinja at the Bugembe stadium, Wakiso Giants were held to a goalless stalemate by rivals Dove All Stars. Wakiso finish the first round as the only unbeaten team and top the Elgon group with 20 points.

Dove All Stars are second placed with 19 points, one more than Alex Isabirye’s Kyetume FC who defeated Entebbe FC 2-1 at Nakisunga grounds.

Dove FC edged Kansai Plascon 1-0 in Masindi thanks to former Express and Kira United midfielder Bright Haguma who scored his fourth goal of the season.

Dove FC, coached by Mark Twinamastiko, are now third with 21 points after 10 games.

Jinja Municipal Council Hippos defeated Kataka FC 1-0 courtesy of Ibrahim Nsimbe’s second half goal while Amuka Bright Stars fell 2-0 to Bukedea Town Council at the Emokori grounds.

UPDF overcame Nebbi Central by two goals to none at the Bombo barracks grounds.

On Wednesday two games were played, Kireka United stunned Kitara 2-1 while Water thumped Bumate United 4-1 at Wankulukuku.

Proline’s Ivan Bogere leads the scoring chats with 7 goals while Peter Lomolo and Isaac Otto of Kiboga Young, Bright Anukani, JMC’s Ibrahim Nsimbe, Abdallah Senyonga (Kira United) and Henry Kitagenyi of Plascon come trailing.
