Dominant Wakiso Giants ease past Amuka as Kitara edge Proline at Lugogo

Wakiso Giants recorded the biggest win in the 7 FUFA Big League games played on Thursday 31st January.

The Purple Sharks defeated Amuka Bright Stars 3-0 at Bugembe to maintain their lead on the Elgon group table.

New signings Yasin Mugume, Hakim Senkumba and Norman Ogik were all handed their debuts by coach Ibrahim Kirya.

Mugume and Ogik were on the score sheet together with the team’s skipper Feni Ali to ensure an easy victory for Wakiso Giants.

After a goalless half time, Mugume broke the deadlock with an easy tap in at the hour mark before Feni made it 2-0 moments ago.

Ogik put the icing on the cake at the stoke of full time while Amuka Bright Stars’ midfielder Fred Watango saw red following foul play on Mugume.

Wakiso Giants extend their unbeaten run to 11 games and go 4 points clear of second placed Dove All Stars who will be in action on Sunday against Kataka FC.

Kitara Football Club edged Rwenzori group table leaders Proline 1-0 at Lugogo to register 5th win of the campaign which is also the first under new coach Richard Makumbi.

Former SC Villa striker scored the all important goal for the Kitara outfit in the third minute of the game.

Despite defeat, Proline remain table toppers of the Rwenzori pool with 23 points, one better than second placed Kiboga Young who drew 2-2 with Water FC at Wankulukuku on Wednesday.

League debutants Dove FC rallied through former Express FC winger Bright Haguma to salvage a point against Kabale Sharp at Katusabe grounds in Masindi.

Dove FC are third with 22 points only separated by goal difference with Kiboga Young while Kitara are distant 6th with 18 points.

In other games played on the day, Kansai Plascon subjected Kira United to a 2-0 defeat at Namboole while Light SSS settled for a goalless stalemate with Kataka FC.

James Odoch begun his coaching tenure at Entebbe FC with a 1-1 draw against UPDF FC at Wankulukuku. Fred Umony had given the army side the lead but Denis Kaweesa struck late to ensure a stalemate.

Former Premier League side Jinja Municipal Council Hippos played to a barren draw with Bukedea Town Council at the Kakindu stadium in Jinja.

The Second tier division will resume on Sunday 3rd February with two Elgon group games on card. Kyetume face Amuka Bright Stars while Kataka play host to Dove All Stars in Mbale.
