Venue : Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku
Kick off : 4:30pm

With 8 games to the league climax, Express FC will be aiming to beat the drop when they entertain relegation threatened side Mbarara City at Wankulukuku Stadium.

The 6 time champions will call for no room for errors while the Ankole lions will be seeking for maximum points as they continue striving away from trouble.

The first round meeting between the two sides saw Mbarara City edge Express 1-0 at Kakyeka Stadium in September last year.

Express who are tottering in drop zone are 14th on the AUPL table, having only collected 19 points from 22 games and are at the risk of facing relegation for the first time in the club’s history.

Their opponents Mbarara City are only a place above them and lying in 13th place on the log with 23 points accumulated in 22 league games.

The hosts, Express Fc are on an agonizing aftermath of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Kirinya Jinja S.S while Mbarara City come into this contest after forcing a morale boosting 1-1 stalemate away to KCCA FC.

Express have managed 4 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses in the 11 games they have hosted this season. Mbarara City on the other hand are yet to register victory on the road. They have lost 4 and drawn 6 in the 11 games played away from home

Mbarara City also remains winless since the league resumption, drawn 4 and lost 3 in the 7 games played in the second round.

Express head coach Shafiq Bisaso hopes to build on home advantage to pay back Mbarara city. He says,

“We have prepared well for this contest and we want to win the game since we are playing at home. Besides the injuries of Birungi and Jjingo, so nothing can stop us from getting positive results tomorrow.”

Sam Kawalya the Mbarara tactician has declared tomorrow’s game as an extremely tricky one for his side and emotional to him being a former Express player and coach.

He says,

“The game won’t be easy for us but we have prepared well for it like we always do during match days. It will be an emotional day for me since I will be facing a side I once played for but this is a job and so I have to do the needful for a positive result.”

Kawalya also asserts his team will build on their performance at KCCA in the previous game,

“We were defensively organized against KCCA and our performance in the entire game was brilliant. We shall build on this for maximum points though we must be balanced in all departments.”

The hosts will be without injured Micheal Birungi who has been in fine form recently, left back Sulaiman Jjingo is also out injured. Skipper Steven Luswata is ruled out through suspension by the club.

Bisaso will look to the likes of Ayub Kisalita, Alfred Leku and Jalil Zimula to stand a chance to pick maximum points.

The visitors will miss the services of talisman Emmanuel Ibe Obina out injured. They will seek inspiration from Makweth Wol and Hilary Mukundane.

Express has not moved out of the red zone since November last year and will also stay there even with a win.

Victory for Mbarara City will elevate them to 12th place with 26 points leapfrogging current occupants UPDF.
