Vipers will be crowned champions of the Uganda premier league 2017/18 season if they beat UPDF FC on Friday 25th at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende. They can still be champions if they match KCCA FC’s result who are taking on Police FC at Namboole courtesy of their 2 points cushion above the 2nd placed defending champions.
UPDF are also fighting for their lives as defeat would send them into the big league. They seat 13th on the log with 29 points and they will save their season if they manage to avoid defeat or better Proline and Express’ results on the same day.
Vipers have only lost one game at home this term, having managed 11 wins and 2 draws.
UPDF on the other hand have a very alarming away form which has seen them manage only one victory on the road, 3 draws and losing on 10 occasions.
UPDF will be without Brian Odongo (Injury) Isa Mubiru (Injury) and Sulaiman Majanjaaro who saw red in their 1-0 win over SC Villa.
Vipers have a full house for selection and Da Costa is expected to maintain the same team that has not lost a game since December last year.
What the coaches say:
Miguel Da Costa. Vipers SC
“A tough game against a team in need of 3 points to avoid relegation, whoever wins concentration and focus will take the day but we are going for nothing but a win to seal the championship “
Steven Bogere, UPDF FC
“Only God will determine our fate, we have fought all season to save this team but we find our selves in this situation. They want to win to seal the title and we need to avoid relegation “
“We are prepared for a fight and ready for the match, may the best team win”
