CRICKET : Uganda Cricket head coach Steve Tikola names a 14 man squad for T20 World Cup Africa

The Uganda Cricket team head Steve Tikola has named an exciting squad of 14 and two reserves that will represent Uganda at the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa final from May 17th-25th in Kampala.

There are four changes from the side that helped Uganda qualify from the East Africa Region qualifier ( Africa B event) at Gahanga International Stadium in Rwanda last year.

Uganda finished runners up to eventual winners Kenya at the four nation competition to secure a place in the T20 World Cup Africa final.

Bowling all rounders Irfan Afridi and Kenneth Waiswa alongside top order batsman Ronak Patel and opening bowler Bilal Hassun all miss out.

In their places, Emmanuel Isaneez, batsman Arnold Otwani, youngsters Zephaniah Arinaitwe and Rogers Olipa both shall make their first ever competitive ICC event debut at the senior level.

Tikola believes the named players will do the job and put up explosive performances

“We have picked the best players that we believe will do the job for the country. These guys have worked hard and earned the right to represent their country. They know their roles and what’s at stake. We as the coaches have done our part and hopefully the guys will also execute the game plans.” Stated Tikola.

Six Nations will participate in the event which are Uganda ( hosts), Nigeria, Botswana, Namibia, Kenya and Ghana.
