City Oilers knocked out by Union Sportive Monaatir in FIBAACC quarter finals

City Oilers who qualified for the quarter finals after winning their last 2 group fixtures could not do enough to the Favorites from reaching the semis.

Tunisian side Union Sportive Monastir dominated fighting Oilers in 3 quarters leading the first period with a 13 point difference, 23-10.quarter

Oilers ran out of ideas in the 2nd quarter managing to score only 9 points ,a point less than their 1st quarter ‘s score while their opponents scored a total of 25 point going into half time with a 48-19 lead.

The Zone V champions played a better game in the last 2 quarters though, threatening to come back scoring a total of 52 points in both quarters while Union Sportive Monastir scored only 48 points but were enough to cast out City Oilers on 96-71.

Adarius Pegues scored a total of 18 points, 11 rebounds, assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks while Jordin Mayes scored 20 points for Oilers.

On the other hand, Union Sportive Monastir’s forward Evariste Shonganya helped his team to remain undefeated and favourites sinking in 27 points , and 9 rebounds while point guard Kyle Vinales scored 15 points, 7 rebound and 7 assist and Bechir Hadidane scored 14 points.

City Oilers went on to defeat GS Petroliers 87-81 in their classification match and tomorrow they return in action fighting for a 5th- 6th place in the tournament.
