CAF names Uganda as 2020 AFCON Beach soccer hosts

The Confederation of African football has named Uganda as hosts for the 2020 Beach soccer Championships.

The decision was reached during the CAF Executive committee meeting held in Accra Ghana on Friday. FUFA President Moses Magogo who serves on the executive as the Futsal and Beach soccer head of committee was in attendance.

The confirmation will see the Sand Cranes automatically qualify for the fourth edition as hosts.

Uganda was edged out by Ivory coast 7-5 on aggregate in the qualifiers of this year’s edition. This was the second time that the Sand Cranes were taking part in the qualifiers, the first one was in 2016 losing to Ghana.

The tournament will take place in Egypt this year starting on 8th and end on 14th December with eight Nations set to lock horns. The event will also act as the qualification route for African teams to the 2019 FIFA Beach soccer World cup in Paraguay. Senegal are Africa’s reigning champions
