CAF CL: Al Ahly seal CAF final berth with comprehensive victory over Wydad

Al Ahly beat Moroccan rivals Wydad Casablanca 3-1 in Cairo to seal their place in this season’s CAF Champions League final.

The Egyptian side progressed to the final with a 5-1 aggregate score after winning the first leg 2-0 in Casablanca a week ago.

Marwan Mohsen, Hussein El Shahat and Yasser Ibrahim scored the three goals for Pitso Mosimane’s side while second-half substitute Zouhair El Moutaraji found a consolation for Wydad.

Al Ahly who have won the CAF Champions League a record eight times will now wait for aggregate winners between rivals Zamalek SC and Raja Casablanca.

Zamalek lead the second semi-final tie 1-0 but both sides will face off on November 1st in Cairo after several Raja Casablanca players and staff tested positive for COVID-19.

The final of the tournament will be held in Cairo on November 6th.

Al Ahly will play their 13th CAF Champions League final, their third in the last four years and Mosimane’s second as a coach.
