Buganda Kingdom’s Royal Regatta back and better

The third edition of the Royal Regatta ( Amaato ga Kabaka) Championships has been launched at Bulange Mengo. The championship will have two precursor events with the first to be held in Kiyindi on 30th March while the final pre-event will be at Mulungu landing site on 29th April.

The final and main event will take place on 27th May at Nabugabo Landing site. Eng. Immanuel Ben Misagga the chairman organising committee highlighted on way they have decided to travel to three venues.

“We have decided to travel to this edition to three venues to mainly allow spread of the sport across various counties of the Kingdom. We shall also use the championship to sensitize people on the waters about HIV/AIDS.”


Buganda Kingdom minister for Sports and recreation Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu hailed the organising committee for their efforts in uplifting the sport and called upon all the counties to give support to the event.


“I thank the organising committee for their efforts in uplifting the sport and I call upon all the counties to give support to Eng. Ben Misagga so that we can have a successful event.

The organisers also promised to use professionals to educate the people who use the waters. All the 18 counties in the Buganda Kingdom are to take part in the championship.
