BIG LEAGUE : UPDF, MYDA earn direct promotion to Uganda Premier League

UPDF FC and Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) FC have been confirmed as the two directly promoted clubs from Fufa Big League to the Uganda Premier League.

Fufa President Eng. Moses Magogo confirmed that the two clubs are sportingly eligible to apply for club licensing for the 2020/21 UPL license following the abandonment of the season due to the current pandemic situation.

MYDA were the table leaders of the Elgon Group with 21 points from 11 games while UPDF had 23 points on top of the Rwenzori Group.

Kiboga Young and Kataka FC from the Elgon Group, Kitara FC and Ndejje University FC from Rwenzori will play in a play off before next season starts to determine the third club that will join the top-tier.

Kiboga Young will face Ndejje University while Kitara FC is destined to lock horns with Kataka FC.

In the same line, six teams have been demoted from the Big League to their respective third tier divisions (Regional Leagues).

These include Kansai Plascon, New Villa FC and Dove FC from Masindi who were occupying the bottom three places on the Rwenzori Group table.

Others are Elgon Group trio of Light SSS, Katwe United and Saviours FC from Lira.
