Akiror elated by Airtel awards nomination

Crested Cranes skipper Tracy Jones Akiror has expressed her delight at being named on the shortlist for the best female player of the year.

The midfielder who guided Kawempe Muslim ladies to the FUFA women elite league title defence was also voted MVP of the season.

She was also instrumental in the Crested cranes COSAFA women championships where they finished 3rd and consequently winning bronze.

It’s a pleasure for me that i was nominated for such a big prize. I feel honoured to be among the nominees for this year’s most valuable female player.”

“I know my competitors also deserve to be on the list basing on what they have achieved which makes the competition to be tight.”

Akiror remains expectant to come out on top and she has urged the fans to rally behind her by voting.

“I know it won’t be an easy journey for me to win but I remain positive that I will come out on top. It call upon the fans to vote for me and God willing I will make it.”

She faces stiff competition from UCU Lady Cardinals custodian Aturo Ruth who won the best goalkeeper during Crested Cranes boost status in both the Women CECAFA Championships and Cosafa Women Championships.

The other nominee is Shadia Nankya ( Uganda Martyrs HS, Lubaga) who was also impressive for both club and country. The winner will be announced on December 7th at a glamorous event that will be held at Munyonyo Speke Resort.
