A second half brace from Karim Ziyech handed Morocco their first ever win over Cameroon and put AFCON qualification chances for Herve Renard’s more imminent.

The first 45 minutes at the Muhammad V stadium in Casablanca saw the two sides play to a dormant and goalless stalemate.

10 minutes into the second period, Ziyech broke the deadlock from the spot following a push on Sofiane Boufal in the box.

The Ajax Amsterdam offensive midfielder beat Andre Onana again with a left footed low drive from 20 yards to ensure a comfortable lead.

Clarence Seedorf’s side was reduced to 10 men when striker Karl Toko Ekombi was controversially sent off after seeing a second yellow for diving despite being fouled by Manuel Da Costa 15 minutes to normal time.

The victory puts the Atlas Lions at the top of group B table with 10 points and can seal qualification should Malawi fail to win in Comoros on Saturday.
