2018 edition of the Kids of Africa half marathon launched


Kids of Africa a Swiss initiative a home of children has organised a half marathon run to take place on Sunday 14th- October 2018 to help in improving on the sanitation of schools in Katabi Town council.

This will be the 8th edition and it is targeting four schools in Katabi and will help in constructing a toilet facility for each school.

ST. Kizito Primary School Namugonde, Bugiri Public School, ST Paul Bulenga Primary School and Kigero Primary School are the schools to benefit from the outcomes of this run.

The run is in three races 5km( under 12 years), 10km( 13-17 years and 25km( 18-48 years and above). More than 1000 participants expected to take part.

Registration for each participant is shs 20000 and this goes with a t-shirt, later registration is possible at the venue on the event day at a higher fee of shs 30000.

Said Florence Barigye the President Kids of Africa expressed her gratitude towards the sponsors.

Roko construction has always been the main sponsor for the past 7 years and they have continued to support this year with 25 million shillings.

The ROKO Construction manager Aine Ashaba also thanked Kids of Africa for their deeds and promised more support.

” We are so privileged to patner with Kids of Africa and promise to continue supporting them.”

Jubilee Insurance Company has also put in 10 millions shillings.

Ronnie Kalema the mayor Katabi Town Council thanked Kids of Africa for their services extended to the community and promised to always work with them and take part,

” We have achieved alot from Kids of Africa we as the residents of Katabi, I promise to work with them this time am coming with 42 participants to take part.”

Winners from all the races will move away with cash prizes and medals.
